History of black tea

Black tea was first published in “Materia Medica”, “Compendium of Materia Medica” is listed in the thirty-sixth volume of Mubu, famous mountain tea, “Dictionary of Chinese Medicine” and “Chinese Materia Medica” are all recorded. [12]
The originator of black tea is in China. The earliest black tea in the world was invented by tea farmers in the Wuyishan tea area of Fujian during the Ming Dynasty in China, named “Zhengshan Xiaozong”. The Jiang family in Tongmu Village, Wuyishan City is a tea family that produces Zhengshan Xiaozong black tea, with a history of more than 400 years.
In 1610, when Princess Catherine of Portugal married King Charles II, her dowry contained several boxes of Chinese tea. From then on, black tea was brought into the British court, and drinking black tea quickly became an indispensable part of the life of the British royal family. In the early tea market in London, England, only the small black tea of Zhengshan was sold, and the price was extremely expensive, only the rich and wealthy could drink it. Zhengshan small black tea became an indispensable drink of the British upper class. The British loved black tea, and gradually evolved the drinking of black tea into a noble and luxurious black tea culture, which was promoted to the whole world. [1]
In 1689, the British even set up a base in Xiamen City, Fujian Province, China, and purchased a large number of Chinese tea leaves. The British drank more black tea than green tea, and developed their own unique black tea culture, all of which were related to the above historical events. Because the tea purchased in Xiamen belonged to the semi-fermented tea of the black tea category – “Wuyi Tea”, a large number of Wuyi tea flowed into the UK, replacing the original green tea market, and soon became the mainstream of Western European tea. Wuyi tea is black in color, so it is called “Black tea” (literally translated as black tea). Later tea scientists classified it according to the production method of tea and the characteristics of tea. After Wuyi tea is brewed, the red soup and red leaves belong to the “black tea category” according to their nature. But the British customary name “Black tea” has been passed down to refer to “black tea”.
